Welcome to Boston, NY

Overview

Boston is a town in south-central Erie County, bordered to the north by Hamburg and Orchard Park, to the east by Colden, to the south by North Collins and Concord, and to the west by Eden. This town of about 8,000 residents is southeast of Buffalo and one of the county’s “Southtowns.” Boston includes the hamlets of Boston, North Boston and Patchin.

Essentials

Boston has only a few small businesses in town; residents here typically take a shot drive for most shopping needs. For grocery shopping, there are two Tops Friendly Markets stores in Hamburg (about nine miles northwest) and another one in Orchard Park (about 15 miles north). For retail shopping, there’s a Walmart Supercenter in Springville and McKinley Mall in Blasdell (about 17 miles northwest).

Recreation & Entertainment

Hunting, fishing, hiking and other outdoor activities are popular in Boston. The town hosts small-town events like Boston Hills Bar-B-Que Fest, and the town has four small parks and a good youth-recreation program. Nearby Hamburg has a casino and several movie theaters. Ralph Wilson Stadium, home of the NFL Buffalo Bills, is in nearby Orchard Park.

Transportation & Traffic

Route 219, also known as the Southern Expressway, runs north-south on the western edge of town. Route 277 intersects with Route 391 in the northwestern part of town.

Pros & Cons

Small-town living is the appeal here. The town has an interesting history preserved by the Boston Historical Society. It’s not far to the mall in Blasdell, or to Ralph Wilson Stadium if you want to catch a Buffalo Bills game.
